We currently open from 9:30 - 13:00 Monday - Saturday
Now also 13:00 - 16:00 on Tuesday & Thursday
 

What do we do?

  •     We thankfully accept donations of books, magazines and even cash
  •     We have Mondi Skips for the disposal of newsprint, old magazines and dilapidated books so please bring them along - Mondi actually pay us a small amout per Kilo
  •     We have more than 14 000 books in stock - Fiction, Non-Fiction,Childrens.
  •     We sell second-hand books at very competitive prices; CD's, DVD's & Videos too
  •     Scholars & University Students, check for your prescribed works at great savings
  •     Fiction priced from R15 upwards
  •     We are run by Volunteers and Hostel Residents
  •     We donate books to Firlands Children’s Home, Philile pre-school, and other charitable organisations, to help uplift the underprivileged and previously disadvantaged
  •     We supply Book Dealers at very competitive (sometines negotiable) prices
  •     We also run a "Do it yourself" Coffee Shop in our courtyard on Mondays                  Coffee, Tea, Juice R5 per cup; Biscuits another R5; sometimes even cake for R10

What do we need from you?

  • Your time. Do you have a spare morning or afternoon every week? We would like to keep the bookshop open all day, but we need more volunteers to achieve this. Please consider giving us some of your time.
  • Books! Are you spring cleaning and sorting books? Please bring them to us, or phone Judy 082 372 8211, Lesley 083 252 0625 or the Office 011 788 4745 to arrange for collection.
  • Your custom. Think of us when you are looking for a specific book, we will try to track it down for you. Come and browse for something good to read.
  • If you know of any Schools that would like sets of Encyclopedias, please let us know as these are frequently donated.
